Lysol Declares July 5 Address the Mess Day

The home cleaning brand teams with Jesse Tyler Ferguson to spotlight post-Fourth of July cleanup.

For Lysol, the Fourth of July should be centered on watching the fireworks spectacular with close friends and family – not concerned over the heap of dirty dishes in the kitchen sink from the BBQ and flag-designed sheet cakes.

In fact, according to brand research, nearly two-thirds of US adults (64%) have missed out on time with friends and family at gatherings because they were busy cleaning up the mess. Moreover, more than three-quarters (76%) said they prefer a dedicated post-holiday cleaning day to truly enjoy the celebrations.

This July Fourth, Lysol has teamed with Jesse Tyler Ferguson on a campaign to inspire homemakers to mark the once-a-year spectacular (and America’s 250th Birthday!) by leaving the mess for July 5.

“The best hosts know great BBQs and summer cookouts are the ones where you don’t hold back,” said Ferguson. “And if things get a little messy? That’s when you know you’re doing it right. Leave the cleanup for Lysol to tackle, so you can enjoy the moment with the ones you love.”
